SOLD
1990 Dover Gray Oregon Jeep
Every Jeep has a story.
This Jeep's story began when it was sold new at Riverside Jeep Eagle in Gladstone Oregon. The original owner took great care of it from 1990 until 2016. That's when we were fortunate to cross paths with this Dover Gray over Sand 1990 Grand Wagoneer outside of Portland, Oregon. The thing that jumped out right away ,was how original and rust free it was. It was love at first sight. The hard to find items were all present. and factory original. The "Jeep" mudflaps, key fob, owners manuals, (and other paperwork including the salespersons business card,) original floor mats, trailer hitch wiring, dealer option window shades, factory radio, factory fog lamps with "Jeep" covers, all present and accounted for. Often these items go missing within the first few years of ownership. Their presence speak to the care given by the original owner, who explained she had covered the seats for most of the 26 years she cared for the Jeep. While the body and seats were excellent, the engine, cooling system and other common wear items in these Jeeps, such as the headliner, carpet, brakes, exhaust. etc. were in need of TLC. So after bringing it back to Pennsylvania in the summer of 2017 we started the renewal process removing the front clip, and replacing the tired 360 with a freshly rebuilt AMC 401ci V8. The under hood work included new radiator, hoses, water pump, belts, new Bulltear oil pump, HEI ignition system, plugs, wires, Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley 4bbl car, new fuel pump, and a ton of other odds and ends. Although the Jeep had an accident free life the clear coat on all the top surfaces failed (as is the case with many of these Jeeps) and needed to be addressed. Stripping the hood (top and bottom, inner fenders, tops of the doors and the roof to bare metal was a delicate and laborious task as the original moldings and wood appliqués are excellent and we were careful to keep them that way. The results speak for themselves. This color is gorgeous in the sunlight. This Jeep stops traffic and gets smiles and waves wherever it goes! The fresh 401 with HEI starts easy, pulls hard and sounds fantastic. It's a joy to drive and the ride is smooth and quiet, and a different experience that a lifted Jeep. (it takes me back to cruising the lake in 17', V8 powered, Chris Craft with transom exhaust. ) If you are searching for a GW to keep for a long time this one is a must see and drive. Contact us we are happy to share the whole story with you...
