50K Wrangler SEMA build
(Design lead and project management)
In 2005 the idea of a "premium" $50k dollar Wrangler was kind of unbelievable for a lot of people and that's why, tongue firmly in cheek, I named my SEMA build proposal the "50K JK."
The paradigm of the Wrangler, up to that point, was deeply rooted in it's military and utilitarian history. I believed passionately that there was a segment of the market that would jump at an upscale offering, with painted roof, fenders, door handles, mirrors, bespoke interior, diesel power plant, mixed with Rubicon+++ capability.
The idea was green lighted to become a SEMA concept for 2006 and I was fortunate to get to lead a super talented team of designers, engineers and enthusiast to bring it to life. And then "wheel" it in Moab, Utah. (Fun fact: we lost a caliper bolt on the trail. Pulled over far off highway I was under the front fender trying to figure out how I was going to secure the left front brake caliper, when someone tapped me on the back and offered me a can of random nuts and bolts they had in the back of their Jeep... It was off road racing legend Walker Evans! Found what I needed, fix the Jeep and we were back on the trail in short order. Jeep people=awesome people.)
HEMI NITRO
(Design lead and project management)
The HEMI NITRO SEMA build include custom designed wide body kit, hood, grill & side vent textures, custom forged 22 inch wheels built by Alcoa, a Mopar 5.7 HEMI crate motor, backed by a Tremec 5spd, huge Viper sourced Brembo brakes, and a custom four bucket interior among other custom touches. This one was a blast to design and help build with another awesome team of Chrysler employee volunteers. I will always be thankful for the chance to meet and work with Daryll Porter and this whole team.
